Celebrating Local Eco-heroes With Nebulart Recycling Group

Educational Business Services has launched a campaign that addresses environmental health in Lesotho and beyond. Through the Thuto and Leseli campaign, the two pioneers have started educating the community about the importance of the 3Rs. These are Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. They also focus on climate change.

Waste management is a challenge in Lesotho. However, a few companies are working hard to combat pollution. They focus on recycling and reusing waste material for a healthier and safer environment. One of the championing companies is Nebulart Recycling Group.

Transforming Waste Management In Lesotho

Nebulart was founded in 2014 and registered in 2016 by a group of young professionals who noticed the country’s need for environmental management. Their mission is to reduce the rate of pollution in the environment by increasing the level of recycling and reusing waste material in Lesotho.

In its early days, Nebulart was involved in school training, where they started campaigns to upskill high schools on processing waste material and developing different products. This skill development training has since created jobs for participants and continuously spreads the word on practising innovative and environmentally friendly approaches to waste management.

Over the years, Nebulart has successfully developed innovative ways to help combat pollution by recycling waste plastic and producing plastic bricks amongst many other products they have developed using recycled waste.

Recently, the recycling company has ventured into manufacturing recycling machinery, including shredders, extruders, compression machines and densifiers. Aiming to increase the rate of recycling in Lesotho by making machinery more accessible.

According to Maleseli, the Director at Nebulart “Turning a blind eye to causing harm to the environment is just like boarding a one-way plane to crash. The climate is already showing signs of abnormalities, these changes have yielded increased droughts, floods and deaths in the ecosystem”

To help the community better understand the impact pollution and climate change have on their lives and to relay how they are contributing to this threat correctly, the initiative has been involved in several environmental campaigns including Keep Lesotho Clean, Keep Morija Clean, World Environment Day and UNDP Lesotho Plastic waste management.
